Green Mountain Development Authority

The Green Mountain Conservation and Development Authority (GMCDA) was established by Saif al-Islam Gadaffi, to fulfil his vision to create the world’s largest sustainable and low-carbon region, a 5,000 sq KM area of Libya Known as the Green Mountains.

PZERO assisted the GMCDA turn his vision into a regional plan to both protect the antiquities and environment as well as create sustainable low-carbon communities and new industries including eco-tourism. PZERO developed the renewable energy component of the regional strategy that includes: concentrated solar power (CSP), photovoltaic solar (PV), wind power and biomass (Jatropha and biodiesel refineries).

The Green Mountain regional sustainability project was managed by Foster + Partners and included sector specific experts including PZERO.

Leading members of the world's press attended the signing of the Cyrene Declaration.

An exhibition, outlining Saif al-Islam Gadaffi's sustainability vision for the Green Mountains, was hosted within the old Greek and Roman ruins of Cyrene for VIPs and Journalists.
